Operating-tech for dense urban last-mile delivery

Building delivery software for an emerging market — unreliable infra, cash-first economy, operators driving on 2G connectivity. Standard western-stack assumptions broke in week one.

My role
Product on the operator (rider) and dispatch sides.
The insight
In emerging-market logistics, the product *is* the cost structure. Every feature has to survive a $5/day operator running it on a $50 phone with 200MB data. Anything that doesn't pay for itself in offline reliability gets cut.
Scale signal
Operations at multi-city scale.

This was the project that taught me distribution constraints aren't imposed on product — they are the product. Anonymized; happy to discuss the operating model privately.

Updates
  1. Aug 2023
Migrated dispatch UI to fully offline-first; sync errors dropped to near-zero.
  2. Jan 2024
Replaced GPS-pure routing with rider-corrected ETAs; on-time accuracy rose materially.
